I bought this item as part of the starter kit that comes with a 1 3/8 hole saw blade. I used it only 3 times to drill into porcelain tiles, and it really makes the pilot centering dimple very well to hold the hole saw centered until th ehole saw itself cust part way into the tile. Bosch recommends removing the pilot tip after the hole saw cuts 1/8 inch into the tile, so the pilot tip does not have to do more drilling than intended to, and wear out too soon.
