Ace sells compressor oil for about $7.00 a quart and from what I can tell from A LOT of research, it is all the
same with the exception of being full synthetic or conventional (What have they used in compressors for the last 80 years?) "Non Detergent, 30Wt" and there is a lot of miss-information out there.
I have owned a couple of used compressors that the previous owners have used regular 30Wt non detergent or a 30Wt full synthetic auto oil on, and you know what you get when you use this stuff?
Open up the release valve on the air tank and you not only get air, but you get oil. (Not what you want)
The claims from this guy and that on the internet are almost comical in there ramblings of what they have used
over the years, and then you get their used junk. A near new compressor will last a good while on the wrong oil, but sooner or later, rings, 0-rings and gaskets wear out from the extra heat the regular oil creates, or the corrosive action of the auto full synthetic (which is a detergent oil).
If the manufacturer recommends full synthetic then use that type of compressor oil.
If the manufacturer recommends compressor oil then you can get away with the Ace type oils at about 1/3 the price.
The reason I rated this synthetic compressor oil at only four stars is because of the price and as a matter of
fact the price of ALL full synthetic or conventional compressor oils. The price is overly inflated when you consider the product even though it is around half the price of Royal Purple.
If you need a full synthetic, then this is the one to get. If you want to pay around twice as much, get Royal Purple.
