Nice ID ready kit

I purchased this set as an impulse purchase in my local Home Depot as a backup to a cheap set I use with a small Li-Ion driver. I did not have an impact driver at the time but as I broke so many bits I assumed it would be stronger than the 'normal' bits I purchased. It is.

I now own a small impact driver and the kit mates with it perfectly. It even fits into the driver's carrying case. I am very satisfied with my 'impulse purchase'.

I did have one problem with the kit. I could never get the phillips head bit out of the bit holder that came with this set. I am not small and I gave it a healthy pull with pliers but no dice, it wouldn't budge. I began to wonder if it was not designed to be a bit holder so I did a search on amazon.com for the set. I found a review on a similar DeWalt impact ready kit containing the same bit holder and one of the first comments was how hard it was to remove a bit. Armed with the knowledge that it was REALLY hard I attacked it again with a good pliers and managed to remove the bit.

This is a good/bad situation. On the bad side, it is REALLY REALLY hard to remove the bit. I must have a good pair of pliers available to me or I will never be able to change bits.

On the good side, many users of impact drivers complain bitterly about bits getting stuck in the screw head and pulling out of the bit holder. That is not likely to happen with this bit holder (it has never happened to me) and is one indication of the quality of the set. Another 'on the good side' is that with use the C ring does loosen it's grip a little and it becomes slightly easier to replace bits. Pliers are still needed, but I no longer feel as if I'm going to pull a muscle replacing the bits.
