These are by far the best quality spade bits I've found. They blow irwins clean out of the water.

The tips are threaded to get the bit doing and keep drawing it in, like a screw.

The cutting surface is sharp and double ground as opposed to just a flat angle. And since the cutting tips are sharp when it comes out the other side it comes out clean without marring the exit surface.

The edges are also cutting edges, so if you angle the spade, it will just angle the hole, as opposed to just binding up like irwins will. And that has the added benefit of making a clean hole.

Also the spades have a wave in them. It feeds wood chips up and out so you don't get sawdust impeding your drill speed and probably adds strength so torque doesn't warp it.

The extension is great, and it's the main reason I bought this set. It lets you go through a foot of wood for a conduit. It locks bits in with little screws you tighten with a hex wrench, and there's no wiggle which I like.
