These are very inexpensive, but they work great. I had to cut two holes through granite tile to install a vessel sink and faucet. These saws go through granite very easily. They also cut through the concrete backer board very easily. Note that they will cut wood (we have 3/4" plywood under the backer board), but only by burning their way through with a lot of smoke.
Note that there is no pilot drill, so you won't be able to just start this thing drilling a hole without it wanting to walk around. What I did was use it in a drill press to drill (or rather burn) a hole in 1/4" plywood. Then I clamped that where I needed the hole and used it as a guide. Pour some water in the hole as you drill to keep the bit cool.
A problem with all hole drills is getting the plug out when you are done. When the plug is granite, there's not a lot of give, though the plywood was almost has hard to remove. I either pried the plug out with a screwdriver using the slots in the side or tapped it out with a rod through the holes in the top. Some things worked better with one method, some with the other.
