My original Makita NiCd battery was rated at 1200 mAh, so I wondered how you could almost double that since NiCd technology hasn't really advanced that much recently with prevalence of NiMH and Li-Ion rechargeables. Although advertised as "Ni-Cd", this one arrived and was marked "MAX 1210 12V", "Chemistry Ni MH". That explains the advertised capacity of 2000 mAh. I have not bothered to determine the actual capacity (time consuming)...it is usually less than advertised unless from a top-tier battery producer...but I'm assuming it is no less than the original Makita NiCd.
In any case, this is good news for the buyer...NiMH have little to no memory effect, and the capacity of NiMH is usually up to twice that of NiCd. So five stars even with the mis-advertising.
It is important to note that storage of NiMH is different than NiCd; whereas common practice is to store NiCd in a fully discharged state, that is not the case with NiMH which should be stored with some charge and given a bump every few months to prevent them from fully self-discharging to zero.
